Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for Public Managers

Program Description

The Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion (DEI) certificate program for public and nonprofit managers, consists of a series of four courses designed to provide public managers an opportunity to increase individual aptitude and knowledge in foundational concepts of diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Each course involves online pre-work that needs to be completed prior to the live session (the schedule below indicates live session date and time). The live session will be held via Zoom and will last approximately 2.5 hours. In the interactive sessions, you will be challenged to explore and unpack your own biases and identify personal development areas of improvement. Through a range of individual and group experiences, you will begin to recognize blind spots connected to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Upon completing the live session, you will complete a reflection assignment.

Live Session Requirements

The session will begin promptly at the scheduled time. In order to fully participate in the live session, you will need a desktop or laptop device with a camera and microphone. During the sessions, we will be using the Canvas course site and Zoom chat and breakout room functions which are difficult on a phone for the level of engagement required. As an interactive online education program, you will be asked to have your camera on during the session and be in a location with minimal interruptions.
